Authentic listening activity - Education

Here’s a listening activity on the topic of education, designed for non-native teachers of English whose own level is B2 – C1. As the interview lasts twenty minutes, it provides more extensive practice than most classroom listening activities.

While it can be quite challenging to sustain concentration for such a long time, in some respects this is actually easier than more intensive tasks, as there are only fifteen questions to answer and plenty of time to think. This is an authentic interview, and the vocabulary and grammar used are at quite an advanced level. However, this potential difficulty is balanced by the relative simplicity of the task, which is designed in multiple-choice format in preparation for an exam.

The listening activity can be followed by a speaking activity in which the trainee teachers discuss their own opinions on these issues.
